    Perfect Peace

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock. (Isaiah 26:3-4)

Isaiah gives us the remedy for the storms in life. There will be circumstances that will come into our lives where we cannot do anything but trust God with the outcome. I stood completely helpless as I watched my son leave with the Marines to fight in a war on the other side of the world. I could not protect my child. I had to trust God that my child would return alive and whole. I stood by another one of my sons who was diagnosed with cancer. I could not cure my son so I had to trust God that my son would make it through the battle and be a survivor. I had to find peace in the fact that the outcome could be bad for either of my sons. Praise the Lord that today both of my sons are alive and well. I have come to a place in my faith where I trust God no matter what happens; this is what brings about perfect peace.

Isaiah wrote words of promise and hope. He is saying in this scripture that those who commit themselves fully to the Lord have learned to trust Him. Those whose thoughts are firmly established on Him, He will keep in perfect peace. Isaiah is describing an unwavering faith and trust in the Lord. Only a child of God who is a true believer can understand this kind of supernatural peace.

John 14:27 says, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” The peace that Jesus gives drives out all fear and dread from the heart, for Jesus is in control of all circumstances. Even in the midst of life’s pain and confusion, we can learn to rest in the promises of God.

Trusting God is an incredibly hard thing to do when we are going through an especially difficult time in our lives. When we truly trust the Lord, we are giving him permission and freedom to minister to us without us getting in His way. This is key to our spiritual survival and growth. Trusting God draws us into a more intimate relationship with Him.

I encourage you to keep on believing and trusting regardless of what is going on around you, even if things seem hopeless. This is the only way that you will be able to access the peace that Isaiah is writing about. Surrender all of your cares and concerns to God. Stop trying to fight the battle on your own! Relinquish your mind’s control over all situations. Trust God to work.

Find peace in the hope that you have been given in Christ Jesus. He is our Rock and our salvation! Jesus is a Rock in a weary land, a shelter in the time of storm!

Father God, I want to have peace in my life. The kind of peace that only a child of God who is a true believer can access. I fully commit to you my heart. I relinquish my minds control over all situations in my life and have faith that you are in control. I trust you completely. Whatever the outcome I know that I will be all right. You are my Rock and my salvation! In Jesus name, Amen

I enjoyed reading this, Darla. Your faith is encouraging! It’s all too easy to think we have the best control of our lives and not Him. I trust in the Lord ever day. When life is tough and like me others battle cancer and miscarriages it’s so hard to trust, but it is the most important thing I could do. I encourage others to do the same. Praise God!
